Join SDP for the first of our 2021 Open Mic Forums: Extraordinary Obsolescence Forces. This 1-hour forum will be hosted on Wednesday, June 23  from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM Eastern. After a brief introduction by Dr. Susan Jensen, the forum will begin with a short presentation by three members of our SDP Training Faculty: Branko Terzic, Ned Allis, and Larry Kennedy. A discussion among Trainers and participants will follow. This is an opportunity to learn more and share your insights with colleagues. New this year, there is no participant limit!

James Bonbright in the seminal text Principles of Public Utility Rates referred to the proper treatment of “…property retired prematurely by virtue of extraordinary obsolescence”. What forces lead him to focus on this issue?

This OMF discussion will include real world examples of forces causing extraordinary obsolescence in the regulation of the telephone, electric, and natural gas public utility industries. Attend this discussion to familiarize yourself with factors involving climate change, energy transition, gas bans, integrated resources planning, micro-grids, distributed generation, net zero, and life cycle.
