Included in the course are segments on group depreciation accounting, life and salvage analysis, and annual and accumulated depreciation calculations.This course covers most of the areas included on the CDP Exam. The course is intended for professionals involved in preparing depreciation studies as well as managers wanting an overview of the segments of a depreciation study. There are *No Prerequisites* for this course.
2) Depreciation and Ratemaking Issues		9/16/2018	9/16/2018	11:00 AM	5:00 PM	9/16/2018 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM This popular course is intended for the experienced depreciation practitioner as well as managers wanting an overview of issues related to utility ratemaking and depreciation analysis policies. The course begins with a revised class explaining how depreciation fits within the process of utility ratemaking. This class includes a discussion of depreciation strategies and tactics. The next class, new this year, focuses on the impacts of the new tax law, recent regulatory decisions, and strategies for setting future deprecation and capitalization policies. Also new this year is a short class touching on tips for testifying and pitfalls of live testimony. (More in-depth discussion of live testimony is offered in the Extended Training course “Preparing and Supporting a Depreciation Study”.) This Sunday course ends with a discussion of current issues submitted by attendees.There are *No Prerequisites* for this course.

This popular course covers the basics of plant and depreciation accounting, life and salvage analysis, and depreciation models. Instructors walk you through the data required for a depreciation study and explain the calculations that underpin a depreciation study. Depreciation Fundamentals is often repeated by people who want additional study on select topics or who are preparing for the CDP exam. There are No Prerequisites* for this course.

After a brief review of actuarial and simulation life analysis models, you will apply the models to real-world property data. 3) Analyzing Net Salvage in the Real World - New in 2018!		9/18/2018	9/21/2018	1:00 PM	12:00 PM	9/18/2018 1:00 PM - 9/21/2018 12:00 PM Registration for this course is near capacity. Please click here to contact Dr. Susan Jensen to request admission. This course examines how the components of net salvage (gross salvage and cost of removal) are recorded to accrued depreciation, analyzed using various statistical techniques, and then estimated and incorporated in the calculation of annual and accrued depreciation. You will learn about the various activities and transactions that result in net salvage and consider how such transactions are impacted by the age of the asset being retired and the cause of retirement. Analyses will consider the age of the retired assets and past and future inflation. The estimation of net salvage for both mass and life-span properties will be discussed. Prerequisite: Depreciation Fundamentals or permission from Dr. Susan Jensen based on your qualifying experience or courses.
4) Preparing and Supporting a Depreciation Study		9/18/2018	9/21/2018	1:00 PM	12:00 PM	9/18/2018 1:00 PM - 9/21/2018 12:00 PM This capstone course is intended for depreciation professionals who have a direct role in depreciation studies as well as managers seeking an overview of the depreciation study process. The course begins with a brief review of life and salvage analysis and depreciation models. We then focus on developing life and salvage estimates, preparing the depreciation study report, and supporting the study. Trainees are given an opportunity to role play as a witness or provide support to the witness. Prerequisites: Depreciation Fundamentals or permission from Dr. Susan Jensen based on your qualifying experience or courses.
