Overview
We invite you to choose between two concurrent courses offered on Sunday before the Conference. Introduction to Depreciation presents a brief overview of major depreciation topics. This course is often used by members preparing for the CDP Exam as well as attendees new to depreciation or who want a review of depreciation topics. Depreciation and Ratemaking Issues is a higher-level course that includes classes on how depreciation fits within the process of utility ratemaking and also testifying pitfalls and tips. A highlight of this course is the Current Issues panel.
Welcome Reception
Join us to kick off the week with a Welcome Reception in the FDR room in the lobby level of the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District, our host hotel. The reception will feature heavy hprs d'oeuvres and an open bar from 5:30-7:00 PM. We hope to see you there!

Introduction to Depreciation - 6 CPEs
This outstanding overview course begins with a discussion of the importance of depreciation and the complications inherent in estimating depreciation expense. The course then proceeds to segments on group depreciation accounting, life and salvage analysis, and annual and accumulated depreciation calculations. This course covers most of the areas included on the CDP Exam. The course is intended for professionals involved in preparing depreciation studies as well as managers wanting an overview of the segments of a depreciation study. There are No Prerequisites for this course.
Depreciation and Ratemaking Issues - 6 CPEs
This popular course is intended for the experienced depreciation practitioner as well as managers wanting an overview of utility ratemaking and depreciation analysis. The course begins with an updated class explaining how depreciation fits within the process of utility ratemaking. The course also includes a discussion of depreciation strategies and tactics and cost of service. We will again offer our popular class discussing tips for testifying and pitfalls of live testimony wherein experienced practitioners share their real-world experiences. (More in-depth discussion of live testimony is offered in the Extended Training course Preparing and Supporting a Depreciation Study.) The Sunday course ends with a discussion of current issues submitted by attendees. There are No Prerequisites for this course.

CPE Credits
Attendees at the 2019 SDP Annual Meeting and/or Training can receive CPE credits. The Society of Depreciation Professionals is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
